Craigieburn shooting: Gunman opens fire at home in Melbourne’s north

A gunman opened fire at a home in Melbourne’s north early Thursday morning.

The alleged drive-by shooting took place in the suburb of Craigieburn, about 25 kilometers from the CBD.

Police have confirmed that two men in their fifties were in the home at the time.

They were not injured.

Emergency crews were called to the Excelsior Heights home after residents were awakened by the sound of multiple gunshots around 12:10 p.m.

“It is believed a number of shots were fired at the house, causing extensive damage to the front of the property,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Thursday’s shooting follows a similar shooting in Melbourne’s southeast on Wednesday, which left a teenager injured.

Emergency services were called to a Janmara Court home in Endeavor Hills at around 1.20am.

Shots were fired from the road or footpath into a bedroom window of a house, wounding the 17-year-old as he slept.

He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital in stable condition with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

Other family members who were in the house at the time escaped unharmed.
