Craig McLachlan dramatically quits SAS Australia after calling for a doctor and admitting he’s ‘broken’

Craig McLachlan was forced to leave SAS Australia on Monday after admitting his body was not strong enough to continue with the course.

The 58-year-old actor admitted that while he had the mental stamina needed to push himself to the limit, he was struggling physically.

While attempting a grueling challenge that required teams to crawl through mud over rough terrain, an exhausted Craig suddenly fell to his knees.

“I have to go to the doctor,” he shouted.

When asked what’s going on, Craig explained, “I feel like a hot knife through fucking butter.”

Ant Middleton then instructed Craig to stand up, before continuing to shout at him until he made a decision.

“If you can’t continue, you’ll let the team down on the ground tomorrow,” he told him at the time.

Craig then replied: ‘I can’t let them down (fellow recruits)’ before removing his number and handing it over.

‘Look at me. You did the right thing. Because tomorrow you would go into the ground like an idiot, alone, with no one to pick you up,” he said.

Craig then told Ant that he hoped he didn’t let him down, to which he replied: ‘No, you didn’t let us down. You did a great job.

‘Absolutely wonderful. Your body has given up on you… That’s all.’

Craig then explained, “Psychologically, I have what it takes. I’ve worked too hard and had too many challenges to just pack it in.”

“If I want to take off my bracelet… I’m going to have to be… physically broken, you know.”

He subsequently admitted that he could not continue and turned in his bracelet, ending his time on the show.
