Palia first launched on PC in 2023 and rolled out to Nintendo Switch. Now the free to play life simulator game can be downloaded from Steam. The new platform for Palia coincides with patch 0.178, focused on celebrating spring. If you haven’t had a chance to taste this yet Stardew Valleystyle game, this is a good time to start foraging, farming and building your own cozy cottage in Kilima Valley.
In Paliathe player awakens from a long standstill in a world that humanity had almost forgotten. Now that the humans have returned, they must reintegrate with the elves and golems of Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay. Fortunately, it’s a quiet place, with plenty of space to explore, garden, cook and catch fish and/or insects.
Patch 0.178 introduces a new element temple. After exploring temples with water, fire, and air themes in previous updates, players will now delve into the Temple of the Roots with the eccentric golem Einar. Each temple comes with a series of quests that, when completed, open bundles of collective goods to fulfill. Those who can find all the bundled items will earn great rewards, such as a new cosmetic for their home or a new fish to enter the ecosystem.
In keeping with spring, the new patch also contains new flowers. Catching insects in Kilima Valley allows you to drop flower seeds, which you can then plant around your plot. Decorating and building houses is one of the biggest parts of Palia‘s appeal, so it’s fun to see new ways to brighten up your home.
Developer and publisher Singularity 6 has also shared a development roadmapincluding new building blocks and structures, a new level of friendship to earn with villagers, paths and sidewalks for your plot, and a map grid for easier coordination.
As for the giant frog, affectionately called Frogbert, he’s just hanging out in Kilima Valley as a reward from Singularity 6 for anyone who added Palia on their Steam wishlist. We can only hope that this big frog boy has good intentions, because if he chooses, he could overrun us all. I, for one, welcome our new overlord of Frogbert.
