A British couple have revealed their holiday horror after spotting a hidden camera on the wall of their Airbnb – shortly after they had sex on the sofa bed.
Mike and Michaela Kennedy, from Cardiff, were driving through northern Spain when they decided earlier this month to book the tiny villa at £130 a night in Zaralejo for three nights.
But the couple say they found the property in a ‘disgusting’ condition upon arrival and… had to do with ‘heaps of garbage’ and dead flies, The sun reports.
Despite photos on Airbnb showing a clean house surrounded by beautiful gardens, conveniently located just 40 miles from Madrid, in reality the garden was overgrown and the couple had to spend the first hour of their stay tidying up, they say.
And Mr. Kennedy, 55, said the “icing on the cake” was the small camera, disguised to look like a motion sensor or air freshener, mounted at the top of the living room wall — which they discovered after an impromptu sex session on the sofa bed.
Kennedy said, “I saw the camera on the living room wall, pointing straight across the living room. It was so small you’d think it was a motion sensor, it looked like a phone camera.’

He realized that they had made love “right in front of the camera.”
The Kennedys also say they had to endure a terrible night’s sleep because an “industrial pump” in the bathroom would keep making noise all night after it started up at 11pm.
Despite booking the property for three nights, the couple left the first morning after finding the camera, and Mr. Kennedy complained to the property’s owner, Luis.
But the owner said the couple had to expect flies because the house was in the countryside.
Kennedy complained to Airbnb, describing his customer service experience as “shocking,” claiming he was initially told that hosts are allowed to have cameras for “security reasons.”
The company then reportedly offered him a 50% refund and closed the business, but Mr. Kennedy stayed with them and later got a full refund, and the company offered to reimburse any additional costs incurred by the couple.
‘I told them this property shouldn’t be on the list, it’s so run down. It needs a complete revamp, it looks disgusting,” Kennedy said.
He and his wife Michaela, 57, drove to a hotel after the ‘traumatic’ experience and paid £110 a night for their stay.
Airbnb says that surveillance equipment is allowed in common areas, but hosts must make all surveillance equipment in the property listing fully public.
Hidden devices, and in private areas such as bedrooms or bathrooms, are not allowed.
An Airbnb spokesperson told The Sun Online: “We have suspended this host while we are investigating and offer the guest our full support. We enforce strict rules on recording equipment and take action on rare issues brought to our attention.”
