A playful couple having sex on a popular beach had families and beachgoers trying to escape the heat looking more toward the ocean than the ocean.
The romp in the dark on the sand in full view of onlookers at Coogee Beach, in Sydney’s east, about 9pm on Sunday night was filmed by shocked locals, who shared the footage with Daily Mail Australia.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, said the couple performed the lewd act as onlookers walked by and watched.
“They literally thought no one would see them, how stupid are they?” he said.
‘I can’t believe they did that right next to families walking by in a busy area.
“They just started doing it in plain sight.”
The footage showed a lovelorn participant stabbing while their partner lay on the sand.
When they finished, more passersby stopped and watched as the couple stood up and began to get dressed.

The images showed two people approaching the couple to intervene.
They were seen talking to the pair as the man wiped sand from his body while his pants were still down.
Incredibly, the local resident who filmed the lecherous couple claimed the incident was not a one-off.
“It’s not the first time I’ve seen this at Coogee Beach,” he said.
The boardwalk at Coogee was still busy hours after Sydneysiders flocked to the beach to cool off, as temperatures soared above 30 degrees Celsius.
A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday evening that they had not yet received any reports or complaints about the incident.
Having sex in public is obscene exposure and a criminal offense, carrying a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment and/or a $1,100 fine in NSW.

It appears Australians have become bolder after images emerged in April of a couple performing a sex act in broad daylight on a narrow shallow sandbank in the middle of the Maroochy River on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The woman, dressed in swim trunks, was caught performing oral sex on the man, who appeared to be wearing a green sweatshirt and black shorts.
And a few weeks earlier, footage emerged of a couple having sex in the disabled toilets at Sunshine Plaza, also in Maroochydore.
No one was charged following the incident and footage of the act, uploaded to Instagram, was later deleted.
