Couple reveal their tips to having a ‘millionaire’s wedding’ on a budget
A couple who got married in Mexico have revealed the details of their lavish Mexican wedding.
California couple Misaki Hajimirsadeghi and her husband Amir, both 29, tied the knot on April 2, 2024 β 11 years after they met during their freshman week of college in 2013 β and spent $80,000 on their lavish ceremony.
But they said this was a fraction of the price many of their guests paid for similar ceremonies.
After graduating from the University of California, Misaki moved back to Los Angeles, and Amir also moved to the area for work.
The couple started dating in October 2019 and three years later, the day after Christmas, Amir got down on one knee and proposed.
Misaki and Amir wanted to pay for the wedding themselves, so they saved $100,000 in case they went over budget.

They spent $28,860 on catering and drinks, opting for appetizers and a three-course meal with an open bar.
They spent $700 on welcome kits, which included a handwritten letter, a bath bomb, tea bags and sunscreen.
They also spent another $2,800 on fireworks to really get the wedding party started with a bang.
In total, Misaki and Amir spent $80,230.78 on their wedding. They said it was a “perfect day” and that they got “value for their money.”
Misaki, who works in the financial sector, said: βIt was a perfect day.
‘It was the best holiday. I had all my friends and my family with us – when can you do that?
When can you have all your loved ones in the same place?

“We wanted to spend our money wisely. We wanted it to be a destination wedding.
“When you’re an adult, it’s so hard to plan a vacation with family and friends. The only way to do that is to force them to go through with a wedding.”
Despite the high cost of the day, Misaki said it was more affordable compared to other weddings they had been to.
She said: ‘We’re surrounded by people who have million-dollar weddings. We had a cheap wedding in terms of what we did.
‘The intention was not to have an expensive wedding, but an affordable one.
βWe spent our money wisely and used it to bring our family and friends together.β
The bride and groom knew exactly what they wanted for their big day and were willing to spend a lot of money on it.
Misaki said, ‘We both woke up at 6 in the morning. We stayed in the same room and exchanged vows together in our bedroom.
“It wasn’t natural for us to take public vows. I’m so glad we did it that way – it set the tone for the day.
My parents walked down the aisle. They stopped where the last set of chairs was.
“I walked down the aisle alone and met them. We walked the rest of the way together.”
Misaki and Amir met through a friend during their first week at the University of California, San Diego.
But they didn’t start dating until three years after their departure in October 2019.
Misaki said, “His dorm was down the hall from the girls’ dorm. We met that way and then my roommate got really close to him through soccer.
“So we stayed in touch through college. After college he moved to LA for work and we got back together.
βI was throwing parties in LA, and he would come over and we would just hang out.β

She continued, “Every date we had just got better and better. Everything felt natural to us.
“He felt like home. I feel most comfortable when I’m with him. We share the same humor and we’re very similar.
‘The most important thing is that I respect him as a person and he always inspires me.’
After dating for a few years, the couple got engaged on December 26, 2022, on a rooftop overlooking LA.
Misaki said, βHe told all my friends and family that he was going to propose to me.
‘The real proposal was on a rooftop in LA. He had a beautiful arrangement set up and he popped the question.
“After he proposed, our closest family came to surprise us. Then we had an engagement party with all our friends.”
