It started out with a crisp! Couple who first met in a supermarket snack aisle return to the store to celebrate their wedding day
A couple who met in the produce aisle at their local Waitrose have gotten married.
Jessica Weston-Brown met her future husband Jaxom when they were both working as shop assistants at a branch of the supermarket chain in Eastbourne, West Sussex.
On their wedding day last month, the newlyweds visited the store after tying the knot in a nearby church.
In a world where it’s becoming increasingly normal to meet your significant other on a dating app rather than in real life, the meeting between Mr. and Mrs. Weston-Brown has all the hallmarks of a classic love story.
The couple was introduced in September 2017, when Jessica, then 20, was asked by her manager to show Jaxom how to stack chips on the shelf.

She then invited the newbie to join her and other employees for a Halloween party. Jessica said the BBC that the two hit it off and that they ‘talked all night.’
Jessica and Jaxom quickly struck up a relationship, and their relationship even survived a long-distance period when Jaxom went to work at a branch of the store in Cambridge.
After tying the knot at a local church in Eastbourne, they joked that they would be heading back to Waitrose, where their romance began.
Dressed in their full wedding attire, the bride and groom bought a bag of chips and were given a bouquet of red roses as a gift by their former colleagues.
Jessica said, “It was actually really funny. I thought I was going to be so embarrassed.”
Waitrose wished the couple well on social media.
In a Facebook post that was liked nearly 8,000 times, the supermarket wrote:

Jess says: “We met in September 2017 in the crisp aisle. When Jax started, I was asked to train him in stocking the shelves. We started dating in November, but Jax left in December to work in Cambridge, so we were long distance until I transferred to Cambridge in October 2019. And now, here we are in 2024… married!”
‘Congratulations to the happy couple.’
