  • But his bowling efforts on Friday could stop the hatred
  • Spinner laughed it off on social media

Aussie spinner Peter Hatzoglou has had a rough start to his new cricket gig in the UK after his car was attacked by locals in Cardiff.

Hatzoglou, who was called up to replace star all-rounder Aussie Michael Nese, posted a photo of his defaced car on social media.

“This is how they should welcome new players to Cardiff,” he tweeted.

Hatzoglou, who rolls down his legs for the Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash, is expected to play just three matches for his provincial cricket side Glamorgan in the T20 Blast competition.

“I don’t know how long I’ll be here but I was very excited when I was called up and I hope to be an influence during my stay,” he said during an interview in Wales last week.

“I loved my first Blast match for Glamorgan.”

Maybe the locals didn’t like him very much.

Neser has wowed county cricket fans since his arrival at the start of the season, even batting a ton for the Welsh club to boost his chances of a late call-up from Ashes.

Meanwhile, Hatzoglou took an impressive 2 for 25 in Glamorgan’s victory over Kent on Friday.
