Oklahoma singer-songwriter Jake Flint died in his sleep hours after his wedding, and now his new bride is left shattered and heartbroken.

The 37-year-old musician passed away on Saturday night. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Flint and Brenda were exchanging wedding vows Saturday night on a remote ranch between Claremore and Owasso near Tulsa.

But hours later, the groom tragically died in his sleep, The Oklahoman reported.

On Tuesday, the heartbroken bride wrote, “We should be going through wedding photos, but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in. People aren’t supposed to feel that much pain,” Brenda said.

“My heart is gone and I really need him to come back. I can’t take much more. I need him here.’

The shock and sadness was evident in the Oklahoma music community on Monday as news of his sudden and untimely death spread.

Flint’s longtime publicist Clif Doyal confirmed the news of the singer’s death, the news outlet reported.

‘He wasn’t just a customer, he was a dear friend and just a super nice guy. As you can see from the outpouring on social media, he was loved by all. I think a lot of it was just that he was a people person, and he had a great sense of humor. He made everyone laugh and made everyone feel welcome,” Doyal said.

“He was an ambassador for Oklahoma Red Dirt music.”

Flint’s manager, Brenda Cline, announced his passing in a social media post.

“It is with a broken heart and deep sadness that I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” Cline wrote. “I tried to post several times today, but you can’t comment on what you can’t handle.”

Although it rained on their wedding day, the weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the couple, who said yes in front of all their friends and family.

Mike Hosty, a one-man band from Norman who played at the wedding, told The Oklahoman. It was raining, but he had rented a 40 by 60 circus tent. … They put a bunch of rugs over the mud and then got two pieces of three and a quarter inch plywood and put it on the floor – and that was my stage. Jake says, “Is that good for you?” And I go, ‘Jake, that’s perfect.’ A piece of plywood or a flatbed trailer is what I’m good at.’

He said, “I still have the mud in my old van… but it was just a nice wedding. And it’s just a tragedy what happened.’

Flint, a Red Dirt singer/songwriter, was from rural Mounds, Oklahoma.

Born in 1985, Flint grew up in Holdenville, a thriving oilfield town in southeastern Oklahoma, the son of a wild oilman and a hard-working mother of two.

According to his biography, he was transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Jake says he was always the “outcast country kid in the city.”

Jake’s father was a music lover and raised him with John Denver, James Taylor and Dire Straits along with several Texan singer/songwriters such as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, John Prine and others.

Due to his failures to fit in as a city kid, Jake went along with his older sister’s crowd and got a good dose of ’90s grunge rock from Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters.

He was also exposed to Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Guster, David Gray or whatever he heard coming from his sister’s room.
