Country music star Jason Aldean breaks his silence after Billboard snub as wife Brittany blames ‘wokeness’
Jason Aldean has spoken out after being snubbed by Billboard’s Greatest Country Artists of All Time list, admitting he has a chip on his shoulder.
Earlier this week, the outlet published an extensive list of 100 Greatest Country Acts from the past century, taking into account commercial success, longevity and lasting influence.
Dolly Parton topped the charts at number one, followed by Johnny Cash in second and Willie Nelson in third.
Meanwhile, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Sr., George Jones, Garth Brooks, Charley Pride, George Strait and Merle Haggard rounded out the top 10.
Despite having 27 singles on the Hot Country Songs or Country Airplay charts, Jason was completely overlooked in the rankings – much to the chagrin of his fans, his wife Brittany and himself.
Jason, 47, expressed his upset after songwriter Kurt Allison, who wrote his famous hit Try That in a Small Town, slammed Billboard on Instagram.
In a grid post, Kurt wrote: “What a joke @billboard – but not surprising given the source.
“Despite holding the crown as the reigning ACM Artist of the Decade with 28 number one hits in his back pocket, @jasonaldean somehow wasn’t listed as one of Billboard’s 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time.”

The singer admitted he had a chip on his shoulder when he addressed the snub on Instagram
Commenting on the upload, Jason said: ‘This shouldn’t be a shock @kurtallison.
“And people ask if we still have a chip on our shoulder and feel like we have something to prove???
‘Yes, we do that and this is a good example why!! We keep hammering and doing what we do. Same as always.’ [sic]
Jason’s wife of nine years, Brittany, was equally outraged by the criticism, blaming Billboard’s “wokeness” for the oversight.
“Remember when I said it was a journey of standing up for what we believe in?” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.
“This is a prime example of Jason being kept out of the industry.
‘[Billboard] Your wokeness clearly overrides your ability to give credit where it’s due, and that’s sad.”
Jason’s resignation came just weeks after he ‘proudly’ voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 US election.
Jason also said the oversight “shouldn’t come as a shock.”
Jason’s wife Brittany was equally outraged by the surveillance, slamming the outlet’s “wokeness” in a post to her Instagram Story
“As a father and an American citizen, I want to see our country return to the values and principles that made us great to begin with,” he wrote on Instagram.
‘Vote so that our children can have a safe future.
“I proudly voted for Trump and encourage everyone to vote today! It matters #noregrets.”
Earlier this week, Brittany predicted that newly re-elected President Trump will “do really great things for this country” once he is sworn in on January 20.
“We know Trump personally, and he’s just such a great man,” the 36-year-old makeup artist told Fox News Digital on Monday.
‘But of course he will do great things for this country together with Elon [Musk] and RFK.

“I mean, there’s like a whole bunch of great people right now that are going to help us all, and we’re all ready for change, and we can’t wait for next year.”
“We have been very supportive on the campaign trail. We’ve actually been supportive for years and years and years,” Brittany noted.
‘And we initially received a lot of responses. But I think everyone is coming along and the bottom line is, the tide is turning, and it’s really great to see as we’ve been on that boat for a long time.”
This isn’t the first time Billboard has been asked for its rankings.
Last month, Hailey Bieber slammed the paper for rating her husband Justin Bieber at number eight on its list of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century.
Furious about the posting, the Rhode Skincare founder wrote in the comments of Billboard’s Instagram post, “Billboard is a fucking joke as usual!”
