Bet you wish you lived here! Countries that take the most holidays revealed
Now that the year is almost over, many people will already be planning their next getaway.
This especially applies to Luxembourgers.
Our world in data analytics implies that people from the landlocked country, sandwiched between France, Germany and Belgium, make an average of 4.3 international trips per year.
Slovenia, meanwhile, is in second place on the list.
Residents of the Central European country – nicknamed the continent’s ‘rising star’ for its historic cities, beautiful lakes and high mountain peaks – go abroad 1.4 times a year.
The Belgians (1.3) follow in third place.
These trips abroad can also be counted as business trips because Our World In Data defines them as an example of travel abroad and overnight stays.

This comes after research by travel organization ABTA in October showed that Britons are going on holiday more than ever.
Britons took an average of 3.94 holidays in the past twelve months, with Spain remaining the most popular overseas destination.
This was slightly higher than the previous year, surpassing the peak of 3.91 in 2019 before the Covid pandemic brought travel to a standstill.
However, that data, based on a survey of 2,000 people, is consistent with a separate analysis by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The ONS found that Britons made 71 million trips abroad in 2022, effectively putting Britain just above the threshold of one foreign trip per year.
Yet this figure has risen to 86.2 million in 2023.
UK residents visited Spain the most in 2023, accounting for 21 percent of all visits abroad, ONS figures show.
This was followed by France (11 percent), Italy (6 percent) and Greece (5 percent).
Our World in Data, which compiled the table, said: ‘Tourism has increased dramatically in recent decades.

‘Aviation has made travel from domestic to international possible. Before the Covid pandemic, international visits had more than doubled since 2000.
‘Tourism can be important for both travelers and the people in the countries they visit.
‘For visitors, travel can increase their understanding and appreciation of people in other countries and their cultures.
‘And in many countries many people depend on tourism for their income. In some cases it is one of the largest industries.”
