In a video posted on Instagramthe scene unfolds with an anonymous daredevil strapped to a flimsy chair-like object while floating high above green land and a busy highway.

The ride, which has since been dubbed “the craziest ride ever,” is slowly but surely gently lowered, giving the allusion that all is calm.

But at the very last moment, the man is released from the sky and plunged into the unknown, as we watch him swing through the air at intense speed.

And just as we sit on the edge of our seats, eager to see what awaits us, the sound of a bell signals the start of the hair-raising fall.

The moment was apparently too much to bear for some viewers, with one person claiming he immediately had an ‘anxiety attack’.

Just before the big jump you see the man mumbling to himself, perhaps trying to trick himself into the crazy act.

An enthusiastic crowd quickly gathered around the bridge to capture the moment, with some even grabbing their phones to record it.

The Aizhai Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Baotou-Maoming Expressway near Jishou, Hunan, in China.

The bridge was built as part of a highway from Chongqing Municipality in southwest China to Changsha and is one of the world’s longest tunnel-to-tunnel bridges.

The main span of the bridge extends for 3,760 ft and maintains a gruesome height of 1,102 ft.

It is the thirteenth highest bridge in the world and the nineteenth longest suspension bridge in the world.
