King Harald V of Norway is about to follow Danish Queen Margrethe and remove his daughter’s royal title, Norwegian media speculate.
Queen Margrethe II’s explosive announcement that the Danish royal family will become Prince Nikolai, 23, Prince Felix, 20, Prince Henrik, 13, and Princess Athena, 10, Earls and Countesses, and will be known as Their Excellencies, instead of His or Her Royal Highness since January 1 has sparked great controversy in the Scandinavian country.
And now it looks like the Norwegian monarch, 85, is about to follow suit and permanently strip his daughter Princess Märtha Louise, 51, who announced her engagement to American shaman Durek Verrett in June.
According to the Norwegian publication Se og HorThere have been ongoing crisis meetings over the issue between the king and his two children, who he shares with Queen Sonja of Norway, Crown Prince Haakon, 49 – who is the heir apparent – and Princess Märtha Louise.

Martha Louise, a mother of three, is thought to have considered removing the princess title herself. She gave up in 2002 to use the title ‘Her Royal Highness’

MailOnline has contacted the Norwegian royal household for comment. Princess Märtha Louise’s manager, Carina Scheele, declined to comment on the story.
As early as 2019, the Norwegian royal family announced that Märtha Louise had decided in consultation with her family that she would no longer use the title princess in commercial contexts.
However, the palace said the royal could continue to use the title when representing the royal family, as well as in a private context. In 2002 Märtha Louise gave up using the title ‘Her Royal Highness’.
However, it is now thought that King Harald is considering permanently stripping Märtha Louise of her princess title – with the Norwegian royal family also considering giving up the title themselves.
Märtha Louise traveled to Canada last week and it is believed that meetings with her father to discuss her title would have taken place before that.
The 50-year-old mother of three, daughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway, announced her engagement to the 47-year-old California bisexual shaman in June.
With a huge celebrity following, the belief that he can converse with the spirit world, and a very colorful history, Shaman Durek is hardly your typical royal groom.
But maybe he’s perfect for Princess Martha-Louis of Norway, who as a self-proclaimed clairvoyant who says she can talk to angels is far from a classic royal bride.
In March, the princess shared the first photo of her three children with her partner Shaman Durek (pictured together)

Joachim has hit the move by saying it has “punished” its children, and that he was only told the news five days before it was made public – despite the Royal House’s insistence that the decision “has been a long time coming.” to wait’ ‘.
