Cottesloe Beach drowning: Swimmer dies at a Perth beach after he was found floating in the water unconscious
A man has tragically drowned on a popular beach in front of shocked bystanders and holidaymakers.
Beachgoers raised the alarm on Sunday afternoon after spotting an unconscious swimmer floating in the water near a rock breakwater at Cottesloe Beach in Perth.
Swimmers dragged the man to shore where surf lifesavers worked frantically to resuscitate the man as they waited for emergency services to arrive.
They spent almost half an hour resuscitating the man on the busy beach
Lifeguards held up towels to shield the man from the view of beachgoers.

The man was rushed to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital under lights and sirens, but died en route.
The man is said to have been swimming alone and was between 60 and 70 years old.
Uvin Kojada said other beachgoers helped rescue the man.
“They carried him with a surfboard and they were around to revive him, surf guards and a few other people with a medical background,” he said. Nine news.
