Costco makes big change to food court pizza ordering

Costco has made a big change to its legendary pizza offerings in its food courts.

Previously, customers ordered their piece at a digital kiosk and waited for an employee to call their ticket number.

However, now some locations have adjusted the system and customers have to wait in line after ordering. according to online reports.

“You could (and I saw some people doing this) order and then immediately get in the pickup line,” the Costco shopper posted on Reddit alongside a photo of the new sign.

It is not yet clear how many of the warehouses have made the change and whether it is permanent.

The measure may be an attempt to shorten waiting times and speed up the ordering process.

Many Costco fans have long complained about long wait times for whole pizzas and unclear communication about their order status.

‘They don’t care about your number or time of ordering. You will be served when you get to the front of the line. That’s all that matters,” one customer wrote about the new system on Reddit.

“As I watched people struggle with this system, I quickly realized that you never want to order a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza,” the original poster wrote.

“The system works great for whole cheese and whole pepperoni, but if you do something less common, the wheels can fall off quite quickly.”

Costco’s food courts attract a lot of visitors, and changes are sparking strong reactions.

Costco recently added sushi to its food courts, but only in Canada. The move angered Americans who wrote the eight-part CAlifornia crab rolls for $9.99, about $7.40 in US dollars.

There has also been debate in recent years about the price of the famous hot dog and soda combo, which has been $1.50 since the 1980s.

Fans are worried the price will rise, but for now bosses have promised to keep the price steady.

As of September 1, the department store chain’s standard membership has increased by $5 per year, from $60 to $65.

The Executive tier — which offers a 2 percent discount on all Costco purchases made that year up to a total of $750 — will increase by $10 to $130 per year.

Meanwhile, Costco has slashed prices on several of its popular grocery items.
