Corsets were trending on the red carpet at the 2024 Brownlow Medal but the iconic look didn’t score well for everyone: Here’s who nailed it and who missed the mark

The AFL’s biggest names, including its most glamorous, wore tight corsets as they walked the red carpet on Monday night.

And while they were undoubtedly all ‘in fashion’, some women managed to score more points on the scoreboard for their efforts than others.

Bec Judd

Known for her iconic, eye-catching style, Bec Judd was one of the first WAGs to introduce the popular style ahead of the Brownlow 2024 Medal Count.

But the mother of four nearly failed to impress football fans and fashion critics with her choice for the most fun night of the code.

The mother, who is married to Chris Judd – one of the greatest players ever – made her stunning debut on the red carpet of the Brownlow Medal in 2004.

It’s been six years since she attended the event, which gives the dolled-up wives and girlfriends a chance to take the spotlight.

But she looked uncomfortable in the shimmering blush pink J’Aton Couture gown, the corset pinching her tiny waist, creating a mermaid figure before finally coming undone at the top of her thighs.

From there it flew up to the floor and it was one of many failed corsets that evening.

The mom posted photos of the designer dress before heading to the iconic event, and despite it earning her a rare spot in the worst-dressed category, her fans were thrilled.

Zoey Foster Blake described it as “a bubble skirt, but couture style.”

While others described the dress as breathtaking and astonishing.

“This is the most stunning dress I’ve ever seen on you,” gasped one.

Brodie Ryan

The next failed corset, also in a pale pink shade, belonged to Brodie Ryan, the girlfriend of another AFL legend, Nathan Buckley.

The fairytale-inspired design by Melbourne designer Sean Rentero accentuates the brunette’s glamorous bust with firm, shiny satin.

Brodie Ryan also tried the corset style with her outfit on the night

A shiny, sheer skirt burst out around her waist, while the corset continued with a strange round flap at the front and back.

She completed the look with a string of timeless pearls and a quirky yet stylish bird-patterned bag.

Brodie’s friends described her and her looks as phenomenal and perfect, despite the mediocre reviews from the public.

Tiffany Browne

And the fashion disasters didn’t just affect Melbourne partygoers. Tightly laced corsets, which were fashionable but not a style icon, were also a common sight on the red carpet.

Tiffany Browne posed confidently in a Lillian Khallouf creation, although the tight, black peplum-inspired corset overwhelmed her petite figure.

The satin skirt clung to her legs, drowning the petite brunette as she lay on the floor.

Her combed back hair enhanced the overwhelming look.

Neila Brennan

Neila Brennan dazzled on the red carpet at The Crown in Melbourne in her beige corset dress, although the plain colour did leave the brunette beauty looking a little washed out.

The tight corset squeezed her muscular body and did nothing to flatter the young woman as she posed for the camera.

The custom-made Effie Kats dress fell from Neila’s waist to a long train, which trailed along the floor along with the matching cape.

The young woman, who arrived with her partner Marcus Bontempelli, completed the look with glamorous statement earrings and wore her hair pulled back to reveal her face.

Talia Zorko

Talia Zorko attended the event in Brisbane at the Gabba in a corset-inspired dress.

The top, which hugged her body like a corset, had a scalloped neckline and was completely sheer in places.

The dress, a custom Zian Couture gown, featured a floor-length silver sequin skirt.

Although the Talias didn’t quite consider her the best dressed woman of the night, her friends and family were impressed with her ‘mermaid’ style.

“With my mouth full of teeth,” said one.

“You look beautiful,” dozens of others echoed.

The new mother looked happy as she posed in the unique red carpet dress.

Alex Pendlebury

Alex Pendlebury smiled as she walked the red carpet in her trendy dress.

The dress featured a daring slit up to her thighs and a tight corset, and its color seemed to match her nails and heels.

Jaz Buckley

Jaz Buckley looked stunning in her corset dress with a daring thigh-high slit.

The glamorous blonde opted for a floral skirt, which also ticked ‘modest’ off the trend list.

She smiled alongside her partner Jack Steele as she arrived at the iconic event.

Siena Tanish

The young blonde was also inspired by the corset trend, keeping it simple but with great results.

The light pink dress fell stylishly around Siena’s hips and ended in a neat train behind her.

She completed the look with simple, loose curls and a silver clutch.

Kim Ravallion

Kim Ravallion also surprised with her version of the corset trend: she opted for an almost nude-colored, beaded dress.

The stylish dress featured a textured skirt and fell in a long train behind the glamorous blonde as she walked the red carpet.
