In September, 25-year-old police recruit Enrique Delgado-Garcia died after suffering a “medical crisis” during a defensive tactics exercise.

Delgado-Garcia was injured so badly that he suffered severe brain trauma, a broken neck and the loss of several teeth.

Doctors said his injuries were so serious he was believed to have been involved in a 100mph car crash.

The district attorney assigned to review the case ordered another agency to investigate his death because Delgado-Garcia had worked in the district attorney’s office for 18 months as a victim witness advocate and was well known to the staff .

The lead MSP investigator in the Karen Read trial has been suspended without pay over nasty messages he sent about Reed.

Trooper Michael Proctor was infamously forced to read text messages he sent about Read from the witness stand during her trial, calling her a “whack job,” a “c**t” and a “babe,” among other things.

In other messages, he joked about searching her phone for nude photos during the investigation.

The messages were used by Read’s defense as they claimed she was the victim of a vast conspiracy involving Boston police and Massachusetts State Police.

In 2018, nearly fifty military personnel were involved in a massive state police overtime scheme.

Former MSP Lieutenant Daniel J. Griffin and former MSP Sergeant William W. Robertson were convicted in December 2023 of conspiracy, federal program fraud and wire fraud in connection with the scandal dating back to 2015.

From 2015 through 2018, Griffin, Robertson and other troopers from the Traffic Programs Division at State Police Headquarters in Framingham conspired to steal thousands of dollars in federally funded overtime pay by regularly arriving late to and leaving early on overtime shifts which were funded by grants intended to improve road safety, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
