Coronation Street star ‘QUITS soap after two years – and his final scenes have ALREADY aired’

A Coronation Street star has reportedly quit the soap after two years, with their final scenes having already aired, unbeknownst to fans.

Ciaran Griffiths, who plays Damon Hay, is said to have decided to leave the cobbles after two years in the role.

And The sun have revealed that Ciaran’s scenes on Friday night marked his final moments in Weatherfield as he will not be returning.

In dramatic scenes this week, viewers saw Damon as he was arrested for armed robbery after being blackmailed by brother Harvey Gaskell.

Although he had the option to turn on Harvey (Will Mellor) and remain free to continue living with his girlfriend Sarah Platt, he chose to plead guilty and accept the years in prison with Harvey because he knew that the couple would never be safe.

The brothers waged a brutal battle and were then reunited with plans to revive their criminal empire from behind bars.

And during Friday’s episode, Damon called Sarah (Tina O’Brien) to jail, where he subsequently broke up with her.

While Sarah promised that she would wait for him and that they could have a future together, Damon dropped a bomb when he ended the relationship.

He confessed, “I don’t want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face that we’re done.

‘I’m doing you a huge favor. You turned my world upside down, but if I loved you, loved you right, I wouldn’t have done the things I did.

‘You have to run away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye Sarah.’

Damon then got up and walked away, leaving her devastated by the unexpected news.

And although fans didn’t know it at the time, the breakup marked Ciaran’s final scenes on the show.

A source said: ‘Ciaran has enjoyed his time on the show, but Damon’s story came to a natural end for the time being.

“The door is open, but now it’s time to say goodbye to him.”

MailOnline has contacted Coronation Street representatives for comment.

It comes after Coronation Street actor Alex Bain dropped a major hint that he was also set to quit the soap.

The actor, 22, has played Simon Barlow since 2008 and has been involved in numerous exciting storylines, but took to social media on Monday to share a behind-the-scenes look.

In the new photo, the soap star can be seen posing outside his dressing room, where he claimed he was ‘glad’ to have a few more days on set.

He captioned the post, “Well my day is over! Nice short day today! I’m going to really miss this little space when I go!

‘So glad I still have a few shooting days left! So grateful!

Simon Barlow is the son of street legend Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) – who left the series at the end of last year after almost 25 years – and his late wife Lucy.
