“It won’t end well.”

MailOnline has contacted Coronation Street representatives for comment.

It comes after it was announced last week that Kate Brooks has been appointed as Coronation Street’s new producer after leaving Emmerdale in a surprise shake-up.

The TV veteran – who first served as a story producer on the cobbles in 2012 – is leaving Emmerdale after eight years to take over from Iain MacLeod after being promoted to executive producer due to ongoing drama.

In a statement, she said: ‘I’ve had a fantastic time working on Emmerdale and I’m extremely proud to be part of a team that has achieved so much success over the last eight years.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ve had the privilege of working with such an immensely talented and hard-working group of people, who also happen to be the most beautiful.”

Kate added that she has learned more than she “ever could have imagined” both professionally and personally, but she is excited to make the jump to Weatherfield next month.

She said: “Corrie has been lighting up my living room since I was a child, so to be asked to produce a show that I have admired for so long is the ultimate pinch me moment.

“I have admired the show from all over the Pennines and have been in constant awe of the talent on display, both on and off screen.

“It’s a truly special show and I’m trying to do everything I can to ensure it continues to thrive as we move into its next chapter.

“Coronation Street is part of my DNA, and always will be, and I can’t wait to dive in.”

Meanwhile, Iain called Kate a ‘fantastic storyteller’, and he looks forward to seeing what she does at the helm.

He commented: “I know that under her leadership the show will be ambitious, exciting and full of heart and humour.

‘She is ”Corrie” through and through and fits the show so well. I am genuinely excited to see what the next chapter has in store and can’t wait to work with her again.”
