Coronation Street viewers have been begging for the Stephen Reid killer storyline to end as his latest victim was revealed in Friday’s episode.
In eerie flashback scenes, the Underworld manager was confirmed to have killed his business partner Rufus by drowning him in his pool.
With Stephen (played by Todd Boyce) officially becoming a serial killer after claiming his third victim, viewers began to turn off as they pushed for the storyline to come to an end.
Fans claim the plot has “dragged out” for too long, with one bored viewer even tweeting, “Let me know when Stephen leaves and I’ll watch it again!”
However, Stephen’s reign of terror could be coming to an end soon, as some fans have spotted a major clue that could potentially lead to his downfall.
He strikes again: Viewers of Coronation Street have begged for the Stephen Reid killer storyline to end as his latest victim was revealed in Friday’s episode
Shocking: In eerie flashback scenes, the Underworld manager was confirmed to have killed his business partner Rufus by drowning him in his swimming pool
A previous episode left fans guessing about the fate of Rufus (Steven Meo), with many suspecting that killer Stephen had repelled him.
And Friday’s episode confirmed their theories, as a flashback scene, which took place during his conversation with Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell), showed exactly how Stephen killed Rufus.
After an earlier argument, Stephen had gone to Rufus’s lavish home to seemingly straighten things out, while Rufus was unaware that he actually had murderous intent.
With his own story heard across the scene as he shared his business knowledge with his new junior manager Michael, Rufus was shocked to see him answer the door for Stephen – as he had expected Michael to come over for work.
Stephen is heard saying, “We’ll get this right… First, identify your target. You take the initiative, you don’t want them to come to you.’
The scenes continue to play, showing Stephen drugging Rufus with LSD before shoving him into his swimming pool.
The cinematic scenes show a drugged Rufus struggling in the water and begging Stephen for help, who then submerges the businessman’s head in cold water, taking his own life.
With his third victim under his belt and with Corrie residents still unaware of his dastardly ways, fed up Corrie fans took to Twitter to complain about the character in their tantrums.

“#corrie is making too much time for the Stephen sl and they’re sure a lot of fans are confused about it,” one person commented.
While another commented, “I’ve stopped watching #corrie because this storyline is so annoying to watch and they don’t half like dragging out a storyline.”
‘Is Todd Boyce holding the writers at gunpoint? When will Stephen ffs get caught’ a third frustrated fan asked.
“Let me know when Stephen leaves and I’ll check it again. It’s a horrible ATM!” tweeted a fourth.
Response: With his third victim under his belt and with Corrie residents still oblivious to his dastardly ways, fed up Corrie fans took to Twitter to complain about the character in their tantrums
“I skipped Corrie in 15 minutes tonight, left out the totally ridiculous Stephen scenes, along with nagging Sarah. Will do the same until the Comic Cuts killer is written out,” a fifth shared.
With one more addition: ‘Christ. #Corrieis almost impossible to watch. Down with Stephen FFS!’
However, some eagle-eyed viewers have noticed an important detail that could lead to Stephen finally getting what he deserves.
Some viewers saw Stephen wearing a tie pin when he arrived at Rufus’ house, but he stopped wearing it after pushing it into the pool.
Some speculated on Twitter that this could be a key piece of evidence if found by police and could strongly link the criminal to Rufus’ death.
“Stephen was wearing a tie clip when he got to Rufus’ house and he stopped wearing it after Rufus was in the pool…. Bookmark this tweet.” speculated one.
A second wrote, “Stephen’s tie pin has gone missing between him and Rufus who was around the pool and Rufus was drowning. That will probably be Stephen’s downfall, which would sum up these ridiculous storylines and show that the viewers are better detectives than PC Crutch Tinker.”

“Is anyone else paying attention to the piece of evidence that could potentially bring Stephen down, his ‘tie pin’, it was loose the other day and shows he lost it during the flashback in the pool,” a third onlooker commented.
“The loose tie clip will be Stephen’s credit,” shared an eagle-eyed fourth onlooker.
With another addition: “Stephen’s trap will be his tie clip…he said it kept falling off..they’ll find it in Rufus’ house..I should have become a detective.”
Will Stephen finally get what he deserves? Or will he continue his reign of terror on the streets?
