Coronation Concert viewers left ‘howling’ as Kirsty Young awkwardly butchers Nicole Scherzinger name

Kirsty Young left viewers of the Coronation Concert in hysterics after she clumsily butchered Nicole Scherzinger’s name live on air on Sunday.

The BBC presenter, 54, made the gaffe when co-presenter Jordan Banjo’s interview with the pop star, 44, was cut short following the arrival of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Kirsty said to the camera: “There, of course, we see the arrival of Their Majesties the King and Queen.”

Stumbling over her words, she continued, “There isn’t much that can top Nicole Sher-ginger.”

Before adding, “You know who I mean.”

Kirsty later apologized to Diversity dancer Jordan, 30, for her interruption saying: “I’m sorry I cut you off there in your prime. I have to tell you it all went here’.

“Suddenly the King and Queen arrived and we all thought, ‘What, wait a minute’.”

Beaming, Jordan replied, “If anyone wanted to cut my time with Nicole Scherzinger, it was the King and Queen. That’s fine.’

Only for Kirsty to joke, “I couldn’t even say Nicole Scherzinger let alone apologize for it.”

One viewer wrote on Twitter, “HOWLING AT HOW KIRSTY YOUNG JUST DAID NICOLE SCHERZINGER and when ah you know what I mean.”

While a second said, “Did she say I can’t even say it, Nicole Scherzinger?” She just did. LOL.”

Nicole later looked sensational in a royal blue velvet dress while performing at the star-studded event.

Fans praised the singer’s incredible rendition of Reflection from the classic Mulan as she took the stage on Windsor Castle’s East Lawn.

The singer channeled her inner Disney princess in the gorgeous gown featuring a floral mesh corset and a dramatic train.

Her long dark brown hair was worn in an elegant half up half up style that fell down in loose curls.

Nicole enriched her look with a dazzling custom diamond choker, matching earrings and chunky silver rings from Aariya Diamonds.

After her performance, viewers of the show shared their thoughts on Twitter, claiming that Nicole was “insanely talented” and looked “gorgeous.”

The King and Queen took center stage at the coronation concert – getting in the mood by waving the Union Flag, dancing and singing to Lionel Richie and laughing at Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog.

Charles III and his wife Camilla walked into the royal box to a roar from the 20,000-strong crowd who cheered three times for the couple who waved and grinned as the sun set over Windsor Castle.
