Intellectual Cornel West announces run for president with THIRD party: Activist who called US a ‘racist patriarchal’ nation announces bid with People’s Party

Activist and scholar Cornel West has announced that he is running for president in 2024 as a third party candidate – and has pledged to speak the “truth” on issues such as Ukraine, Wall Street and the Pentagon.

The 70-year-old intellectual posted a video on Monday launching his campaign, writing: “I’m running for truth and justice as the People’s Party presidential candidate to reintroduce America at its best — fighting to end poverty. end mass incarceration, wars and ecological collapse, guarantee housing, healthcare, education and living wages for all!

“I come in for the search for the truth. I come in for the quest for justice. And the presidency is just one means by which we pursue that truth and justice,” he said in the video.

A celebrity in both intellectual circles and popular culture, West has appeared in such Hollywood films as The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

He is a radical democrat and socialist who often speaks out on left-wing political issues.

During his academic career he was a professor at Harvard, Yale, Princeton Dartmouth and the Union Theological Seminary in New York.

West previously called the US a “racist patriarchal” nation where white supremacy controls all aspects of everyday life.

“White America,” he once wrote, “has historically been weak-willed in ensuring racial justice and has continued to resist the full acceptance of the humanity of blacks.”

He always considered Barack Obama a friend, but then turned on him when he was in the White House.

West claimed the president is pandering to Wall Street and criticizing his drone campaign.

He also said he was not doing enough to end the mass incarceration of African Americans.
