A five-year-old boy found dead six months ago in a suitcase in the woods near Salem, Indiana, has finally been identified by police.

Indiana state police said the boy was five-year-old Cairo Jordan, of Atlanta, Georgia.

His mother Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, and another woman, Dawn Elaine Coleman, 40, killed the boy after posting on social media that they believed he was a demon, police said at a conference on Wednesday.

The boy’s father, Vincent Jordan, 33, posted a tribute to his son online, saying that Anderson eloped with their child in 2017 after a custody battle and has been looking for them ever since.

Coleman was arrested last week in San Francisco on Oct. 19, but Cairo’s mother, Anderson, remains on the run. Her last known location was Echo Park in Los Angeles, the Indiana State Police said Wednesday.

Anderson is about six feet and had short, dark brown hair in her last known photo. She is known to often wear wigs and extensions, police said.

Cairo’s father said in a social media post that he hadn’t seen his son since early 2017, when Anderson ran away with him after a custody battle. He said he’s been looking for them both ever since

Dawn Elaine Coleman, 40, was arrested last week in San Francisco on Oct. 19. Photos and videos on Coleman’s social media platforms also show her with the Las Vegas suitcase, according to court documents

Five-year-old boy found in an Indiana forest in April died of dehydration, police have revealed as they continue to hunt for his killer

Cairo was discovered on April 16 in a Las Vegas-themed suitcase by a mushroom hunter 80 feet off Holder Road, a cul-de-sac in a remote area of southeastern Washington County in southern Indiana.

Anderson and Coleman were identified as suspects after their fingerprints were compared with those on the garbage bag in which five-year-old Cairo was wrapped, court documents reveal.

Police were also able to locate cell phones belonging to the two women in the area where the suitcase was found on April 14, two days prior to its discovery.

On the day of the trunk’s discovery, a 2019 Anderson-registered Dodge Challenger was captured by a camera traveling south on I65 over a bridge from Indiana to Kentucky.

Police investigating Cairo’s death came across a number of social media accounts linked to both Anderson and Coleman, which revealed that they believed they were “living with a demonic child.”

Court documents outline a number of social media posts made by the two women. In February of this year, Anderson posted:

“I had to raise my frequency, heal myself and past lives, heal my ancestors, heal things in the universe, heal Gaia to cast out a very powerful demonic force from my son.”

In another, from April, Coleman posted:

“You’d better see if the kids you think are kids really have souls or if they aren’t vile creatures with souls.”

Photos and videos on Coleman’s social media platforms also show her with the Las Vegas briefcase, according to court documents.

Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, from Georgia was Cairo’s mother

A month before the discovery of Cairo, on March 12, that same Dodge Challenger, then driven by Anderson, led police on a 30-mile chase in South Carolina. Coleman and the child were both in the car at the time.

The chase was set in motion when she was caught speeding at 92 mph on a 60 mph road, according to court documents. The chase continued until her car ran out of gas.

After the chase, neither Anderson nor Coleman opened the car’s doors to allow police into the car, forcing them to break through the driver’s rear window to enter the vehicle.

Anderson was then taken to the Colleton County Jail, while Coleman and the boy were taken to a nearby Hilton hotel. At the time of the arrest. Anderson told police that Coleman was her sister.

Just a few weeks later, on March 31, Anderson was arrested again. She was caught hiding items in a bag at a mall and when confronted by a security guard about the theft, she ended up punching them in the face.

She was then taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Kentucky.

For six months, the people of Indiana yearned for answers about the unidentified boy.

An autopsy report released in May revealed only that the boy, now called Cairo, died of an electrolyte deficiency, likely due to vomiting or diarrhea.

A funeral service was held for the child, who had not yet been identified at the time, in June. On his tombstone you can read the words: ‘In loving memory of a beloved boy known only to God.’

“When this child entered Washington County in this horrible way, he became an adopted son of ours,” said Washington County Secretary Rodney Sweeney.

In a tribute to his son, Vincent Jordan posted:

Today my heart is broken into a million pieces. I got a call from an officer who told me that my 5-year-old son Cairo Jordan (who ironically turned 6) was murdered by his mother Dejuan Anderson in Indiana April 14, 2022.

It is October 25th his birthday and they are just now informing me of his passing. Me and my family have been searching for Dejuan and Cairo for the past three years.

She took him at the beginning of our custody battle in 2017, threatening to call the police because I came to pick him up on a prearranged weekend. She never showed up in court and it kills me because that weekend is the last time I saw my son.

I swear you don’t know the pain, as a father I feel defeated, this was the only thing I feared on this earth.’
