- Body of woman found at landfill
- Detectives from Victoria investigate
The body of a woman found at a Victorian landfill has sparked a major murder investigation.
Detectives believe the dead woman was thrown into a bin that was collected by a garbage truck from a home in Coolaroo, in Melbourne’s north, on Tuesday.
Waste management workers found the body on Wednesday while moving green waste at the Cooper Street landfill in Epping.
The staff immediately contacted police and a murder investigation was launched.
The woman’s identity and cause of death have yet to be confirmed.
“A large CCTV surveillance operation is currently underway in the Coolaroo area and police would like to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, particularly between Sunday 23 June and Tuesday 2 July,” a police statement said.
‘Detectives would also like to speak to people who have observed suspicious activity in the area.’
