A toddler was found alone in a unit with the body of the child’s father, who had been dead for days.
The tragedy was discovered at around 11.30am on Good Friday morning when Queensland Police attended the Stapylton St home in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast.
The officers were there to conduct a welfare check after receiving a call from a family member who said they had not been able to contact the man since Monday.
The shocked officers found the dead body of the man and the two-year-old child in the building.
The man is believed to have been dead for four days.

The toddler was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for a check-up has now been reunited with her mother.
The death of the man, an Iranian immigrant, is reportedly not suspicious, but the cause of death is under investigation.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
