Coober Pedy, South Australia: Horror stabbing in famous mining town sees man charged with murder

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in South Australia’s famous opal mining town of Coober Pedy.

Emergency services were called to Hutchinson St at around 5.45pm on Tuesday following reports of the stabbing.

A 46-year-old Indulkana man was found with a stab wound to the chest and taken to hospital, where he later died.

The police have arrested a 47-year-old man from Coober Pedy, who is known to the victim.

South Australia Police said major crime investigators would fly from Adelaide to Coober Pedy on Wednesday morning

The man was charged with murder and will appear in the Coober Pedy Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
