Conwoman Melissa Caddick’s Edgecliff penthouse apartment hits the Sydney real estate market after a $1 million deal ends years of bitter feud with her parents

  • Melissa Caddick’s Sydney penthouse is up for sale
  • It is the last great possession of the deceased fraudster

Notorious con artist Melissa Caddick’s last major asset, a luxurious penthouse in eastern Sydney, will soon be sold in a bid to recover some of the millions of dollars she stole.

It comes after liquidators struck a million-dollar deal with her parents to move out of the posh apartment and finally have it sold.

Caddick disappeared from her home in Dover Heights, eastern Sydney, in November 2020 after swindling more than $23 million from her friends and family.

Her victims thought she was investing the money, but instead she blew the money on designer clothes, jewelry, overseas travel, multi-million dollar properties, and luxury cars.

A coronal examination in May found Caddick had died but could not determine the date, cause or location of her death.

Jones Partners is tasked with unraveling the scam to determine how much Caddick’s victims owe.

More than $10 million of the stolen money has been recovered through the sale of Caddick’s assets — including cars worth $361,000 and artwork and jewelry worth a combined $884,000.

The most valued sale to date has been that of her Dover Heights home, which sold for $9.8 million last spring.

Real estate agents are hoping for similarly high sales this spring for her Edgecliff penthouse, located in eastern Sydney – about 5km east of the city’s CBD.

Caddick bought the three-bedroom apartment in 2016 for $2.55 million and convinced her parents to pay $1 million for a third of the property.

But instead of using the money to pay off the mortgage, she splashed it all out on her lavish lifestyle of fast cars, luxury vacations, and designer clothes.

Her parents were paid $950,000 on Monday in exchange for leaving the property after a bitter court battle with their daughter’s victims.

The home will hit the market in the coming weeks and is expected to sell for a whopping $5.1 million The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The area is home to several notable Aussies, including mining heiress Leonie Baldock.
