Convicted drug smuggler ‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury reveals she was stabbed twice and beaten multiple times during her stint in a Colombian jail

Cassie Sainsbury has revealed how she feared for her life while spending three years in Colombia’s notorious El Buen Pastor prison.

The 28-year-old drug dealer-turned-fitness star revealed she was stabbed and beaten repeatedly by inmates while discussing her appearance on the new season of SAS Australia.

‘(SAS) was nothing I expected. “Obviously everyone goes into the SAS thinking it’s not difficult straight away, but I was transferred straight back to prison,” she said Fitzy and Whippa with Kate Ritchie on Monday.

Host Ryan Fitzgerald asked: ‘Were there any moments where you feared for your life in prison?’

‘Definitely. I had a lot of beatings. They beat me a lot. I was stabbed. I got two stab wounds on my arms where I was stabbed,’ answered Cassie.

I’ve been through a lot of things I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

‘Why are you stabbed?’ asked Michael “Whippa” Whipfly.

She explained: “I had many enemies. And obviously a gringa is in a Spanish prison, it just draws attention, you know, rich white girl. Am I supposed to bully her until that’s it?’

Cassie was arrested in Colombia in April 2017, when she was caught trying to leave the country with 5.8 kg of cocaine in her luggage.

The bust shot her to international fame as she was nicknamed ‘Cocaine Cassie’ and this year she even landed a role in SAS Australia.

She was sentenced to six years behind bars at El Buen Pastor prison, but served only three before being released.

Cassie spent another two years on parole in South America before returning to Australia last year to live in Adelaide with her wife Tatiana.
