Controversial NFL analyst Tony Dungy issues humiliating apology for anti-transgender tweet…but NBC chiefs opt to KEEP IT on the air for their Jaguars-Chiefs playoff coverage

NBC analyst Tony Dungy issued a humiliating apology after posting a sarcastic tweet inviting a torrent of abuse to the transgender community on social media.

The controversial former NFL coach-turned-TV star responded to a Daily Wire video about plans to put menstrual products in children’s school bathrooms because “not all menstruating students are women.”

In response, Dungy posted a tweet saying: ‘That’s nothing. Some school districts are placing litter boxes in school bathrooms for students who identify as cats. Very important to address the needs of each student.’

Tony Dungy, pictured at a rally in Washington on Friday, has apologized for a controversial tweet.

Dungy responded to a Daily Wire video about the possibility of menstrual products being required in boys’ school bathrooms in the future.

In his tweet, which sparked major controversy, he joked about schools adding sandboxes as well.

The tweet sparked a huge backlash, with some users criticizing Dungy, while others used it to spread anti-transgender rhetoric on social media.

Now, three days later, Dungy has said he is “deeply sorry” for his now-deleted post, admitting he “replied the wrong way.”

The full apology reads: ‘Last week I posted a tweet which I later deleted. I issued an apology but not everyone saw it. So I’m reposting my apology here.

‘As a Christian I want to be a force of love for all. A force for healing and reconciliation, not animosity.

“Yesterday I saw a tweet and I responded incorrectly. As a Christian, I must speak in love and in a way that is caring and helpful. I didn’t and I’m deeply sorry.”

Despite the controversial tweet, Dungy appeared on NBC as part of its analyst team on Saturday.

Dungy’s apology included him admitting that he responded “incorrectly” to the initial tweet.

Despite widespread public outrage, Dungy will remain on the air for NBC’s NFL playoff coverage on Saturday, and the chiefs have opted to keep him on the list.

Dungy has caused controversy before with his views on abortion, and he spoke at a pro-life rally in Washington yesterday.

In her speech, she used Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest and America’s shocked reaction to make a comment on abortion, telling crowds: ‘Every day in this country, innocent lives are at stake. The only difference is that they do not belong to a famous athlete and are not seen on national television.
