Controversial Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has revealed why he will vote for Donald Trump in next month’s presidential election.
Butker, who sparked outrage in May by delivering a polarizing speech at Benedictine College, endorsed Trump during an appearance at Benedictine College. Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle.
“I support the president who will be the most pro-life president,” he said Thursday. ‘The subject is the most crucial subject for me. I want us to fight for the most vulnerable, fight for the unborn, and that is what we must prioritize.
“I think you should vote for whoever will be the most pro-fi, and we should be men of prayer who put God first. I think that’s what’s best for our country.”
In May, the three-time Super Bowl winner drew heavy criticism for his speech at Benedictine College, a private Catholic liberal arts school in Atchison, Kansas.

During the speech, Butker told the graduating class that most women who earned degrees were likely more enthusiastic about getting married and having children, and that some Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto America’s youth.”
He also criticized Pride month and President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion.
Trump has faced criticism for his changing views on abortion ahead of this year’s presidential election, after taking credit for the Supreme Court’s historic reversal of Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
“My view now is that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal point of view, the states will determine this by vote or legislation, or maybe both, and whatever they decide should be the law of the land,” said him in April.
During their televised debate last month, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris claimed he had warned voters that Trump “will sign a national abortion ban” if he is re-elected president.
The NFL distanced itself from Butker after the speech, saying “his views are not those of the NFL as an organization.”
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said at the time that he disagreed with all of the beliefs Butker expressed during the speech but nevertheless respected his teammate’s right to express them.
Earlier this summer, Butker agreed to a contract extension worth a reported $25.6 million over the next four seasons, making him the highest-paid kicker in the league.
