Conservatives mock Kamala Harris over claims blundering VP has finally ‘found her footing’ in Africa

‘This is very funny!’ Conservatives mock Kamala Harris over claims the vice president has finally “found his footing and a jubilant audience” in Africa

  • The Politico news site published an article on Wednesday headlined: “Harris finds footing and jubilant audience, halfway around the world from Washington.”
  • Harris arrived in Ghana on Sunday and left on Wednesday: he has now arrived in Tanzania, the second country of his three-nation tour, before Zambia
  • Politico said Harris “departed from prepared remarks”, saying she was “noticeably less guarded, relaxed and seemingly lighter”.

Conservatives have mocked Kamala Harris for a gushing Politico profile describing her three nights in Ghana, with one calling the fawning report “hilarious” and another ridiculing her giddy, mutilated speech.

Harris landed in Ghana on Sunday and left Wednesday night for Tanzania, the second leg of his three-country tour. From Tanzania he will go to Zambia.

Politico said the vice president was “noticeably less guarded, relaxed and seemingly lighter on her feet.”

In the article, titled: “Harris finds footing and a jubilant audience, halfway around the world from Washington” – the author described the enthusiastic reception she received and the warm welcome.

Jake Schneider, a Republican operative, tweeted: ‘This is hilarious. The Americans can’t stand her, so she goes abroad and ‘keeps up with her’.

Harris currently has a disapproval rating of 51.5 percent and an approval rating of 39.0, according to Real Clear Politics. She has faced particular condemnation for her handling of the southern border crisis, and has also seen a slew of walkouts from her office, forcing White House officials to deny that she is a bad boss

The party tweeted a clip of Harris making bizarre comments about the innovation to a Ghanaian audience.

“In Ghana, Kamala Harris explains ‘innovation,'” they tweeted.

“I believe that innovation is the search for what can be, without the burden of what has been. Innovation results in one’s ability to not only see, but to do things differently.”

They also tweeted an awkward clip of Harris in a music studio, trying to explain why their work as artists was important.

‘Kamala Harris meets with recording artists in Ghana: “This is not a new phenomenon, but it is something… that is very significant. What is happening here is changing the way people have fun in a way ‘he says as she dances and laughs hysterically.’

Even The Daily Beast thought the Politico report was blatant propaganda.

“The White House is fed up after seeing Kamala Harris take her latest editorial beating, with administration officials lining up to rave about the Vice President in an intentionally aggressive show of support, according to Politico,” the site tweeted.

They referenced an earlier Politico Playbook feature on Wednesday highlighting how White House officials were defending Harris after a Reuters report cited officials calling her “disappointing.”

Harris was described in the Politico’s Ghana report as spontaneous and laid-back.

The author said Harris and her team visibly displayed “the general relief that she and her staff often feel the further they get from the political sharpshooters tailing her back home.”

Politico spoke to a supporter of the vice president who said she was relaxed because “when you come to a place like this, you can be yourself.”

The Ghanaian did not want to give her last name for fear of reprisals as a member of the LGBTQ community.

Politico also included a somewhat confusing quote from Harris, in which he talked about keeping promises he made to Ghana.

“I’m definitely pushing really hard, if you will, in our approach to make sure we’re doing everything we can as soon as we can to get this jump started,” he said.

‘I think the window is definitely open now. Depending on what we do now, the window will remain open.
