Conor McGregor has hit back at former UFC title challenger Anthony Smith in a series of tweets.
Smith drew the ire of the Irishman after making a number of controversial comments about McGregor’s absence from the UFC’s UFC-backed drug testing program.
“It bothers me a lot — like he pulled himself out of the USADA pool,” Smith explained on Michael Bisping’s Trust me podcast.

The 34-year-old has speculated about the reasons behind McGregor’s absence from the UFC’s drug testing pool
“There’s only one reason you’d do that. He looks jacked up like an asshole. You keep seeing videos of him bending in front of mirrors and screaming and he’s huge. He healed very quickly. Like, really fast.
It was revealed earlier this year that McGregor had not been tested by the Anti-Doping Agency since he suffered a broken leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
The former UFC two-weight champion hit back at the allegation in a series of tweets, while referring to similar injuries to Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva in the Octagon:
This rat spoke to Weidman who had the same horrible injury and still has serious complications, it’s disturbing that I was able to heal/return to a normal way of life. He, like many other rats in my game, would be happier if I didn’t get to play the same thing with my kids again.”

‘The brutality of this loser! @lionheartasmith you are a loser. The percentage of bones that come back after such a break is so low.
“You think I give a fuck about something else. I am the most tested fighter of all time in martial arts. I give everything to this game. You nothing!’
“I thought you broke your own leg in your last fight lol you little dork. You embarrassment of a man! Keep my name out of your fucking mouth. P****.’

McGregor later acknowledged the rarity of the injury he suffered at UFC 264, adding that only the fighters who went through the recovery process were entitled to comment:
“Everything was fully revealed before I started. The state of allowance for athletes to recover from injuries as horrific as the one I overcame needs to be assessed. My thoughts are with Weidman and Anderson Silva. The three of us, and we alone, know the seriousness of this injury.’
Smith has not fought since he suffered a broken ankle in his loss to Magomed Ankalaev in July. The 34-year-old is scheduled to return to action in March against rising contender Jamahal Hill.
McGregor also gave insight into his training camp prior to his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018, claiming he broke a metatarsal bone three weeks before their UFC 228 main event.
The Irishman added that a four-part Netflix documentary is currently in production about his preparation for their iconic UFC Lightweight Championship bout.
“I crushed the metatarsal bones in my foot 3 weeks before the khabib fight, and yet I made the walk. All injuries are not the same. You can see it all on @netflix. If a serious injury occurs with a high percentage of never recovering, it’s just not the same.’
