Conor McGregor insists Michael Chandler’s shots will be ‘whistling by’ when they fight

‘A whistler is what I call them!’: Conor McGregor insists Michael Chandler’s shots will ‘whistle by’ as they fight as UFC stars throw verbal punches in episode one of The Ultimate Fighter

  • McGregor and Chandler lead teams in the new Ultimate Fighter series
  • The two UFC stars are expected to face each other in the octagon later this year
  • When they met, McGregor said the American’s shots will ‘whistle by’

The new run of The Ultimate Fighter began in typical Conor McGregor fashion, as the Irishman got into a heated argument with rival coach Michael Chandler.

The two UFC fighters are leading teams in the new series before fighting each other later this year – with a date and location yet to be revealed by the organizers.

It will be McGregor’s first time in the octagon since he badly broke his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier and many have wondered if he will still have his strong confidence.

Well, it looks like he definitely will after a clip from the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter has emerged, where the ‘Notorious’ antagonizes Chandler.

Earlier this month, footage from the first episode showed the two UFC stars meeting face-to-face. In that clip, McGregor said he would “pin” his rival.

However, inside this new videoMcGregor tells Chandler that the American’s shots will “whistle by” as they share the octagon.

In the video, the two fighters discuss the UFC Apex – the arena used as safety protocol during COVID, with no fans present.

“Have you ever fought in the Apex?” McGregor asked. ‘No? Me neither. I would have liked it.’

Chandler replied, “Really?” McGregor then shot back, “Yeah, no sound. Imagine the sound of my shots without an audience. You would hear them up close.’

“Imagine my photos without an audience,” Chandler replied. ‘Yes, whistle. You passed whistles, but yes,” McGregor replied with a grin on his face.

The Irishman proceeded to mimic the sound of punches flying past his face as he took off with a chuckle, with Chandler standing just a few feet away.

“Come on, dude,” the American begged. “A whistler I call them,” McGregor quickly fired back.

The American appeared shocked by McGregor’s comments, but managed to get out: “Hey, but if it lands…” before the clip was cut.

Chandler seemed less than impressed when the Notorious made some witty remarks

In the first clip to emerge from the episode, McGregor was pacing around in a sharp suit, seemingly unsure whether to goad Chandler as the American tried to stay calm and away from what he later called “verbal ju-jitsu” .

“What was Mystic Mike’s prediction?” McGregor asked Chandler with a grin.

“Second round knockout,” Chandler replies. “Hitting you with the hard in the first.”

“Keep dreaming, keep dreaming,” McGregor replies. ‘Did I tell you what weight it’s going to be? 185. You do as you are told. I’m gonna pin you. This is my game. This is my game forever.”

Chandler hopes to hand McGregor his third loss in a row when they fight later this year
