The defeat raises questions about Joshua’s future, with some suggesting he should retire

McGregor insisted Joshua could stay and described him as a ‘legend forever’

When asked if there was a way back, McGregor replied: ‘There definitely is. He had him, he hit him back, he stood his ground, but then he went forward and got hit.’

“It’s just boxing. You get hit, you can catch someone. Of course he can come back.”

The UFC star was full of praise for Dubois after his blowout win on Saturday night, but also criticized Joshua’s technique.

He said: ‘Daniel Dubois didn’t feel any pressure on his shoulders when he came here.

‘Very calm, very controlled and it showed, he came here to chase him (Joshua).

‘Joshua kept showing the same picture.’

McGregor wasn’t the only one who suggested Joshua could come back.

Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora both told Mail Sport that AJ could return after a break.

Whyte said: ‘Dubois was sharper and stronger tonight. He hurt AJ in the first 20 seconds with a jab and a right hand, he was good today, he was on point and did what he had to do.’

When asked if Joshua underestimated Dubois, Whyte added: ‘No, he overestimated him. He thought too much, he wasn’t aggressive, he didn’t move, he didn’t think much.’

Chisora meanwhile said: ‘It was a great shot, a beautiful shot and give Daniel a shout out. Well done Daniel for a great shot.’

When asked if he thought Dubois would beat Usyk if there was a rematch, he replied: ‘If you look at how Daniel is doing now, why not.’

McGregor stressed during his Wembley appearance that he would return to the UFC in 2025 and made a big demand.

Speaking with DAZNMcGregor said: ‘It’s going to be 2025. We’ll see. My opponent that I had scheduled… it is what it is. I’ll take it on board and rock on.

“My job is to go to the gym and be in shape. Whenever, wherever. I’ll be 100 percent ready. I’ve got to get two fights in 2025. It’s the promised land.

“Who knows (who the next opponent will be). It doesn’t matter. Whoever, let’s see. I’d be happy if it’s Chandler. I wish him the best and see where it goes.”
