Leon Edwards’ stunning head kick KO in the final minute of UFC 278 has sent shockwaves through the MMA world.
Fighters and fans alike have been taking to social media to laud the achievement by ‘Rocky’ in dispatching Kamaru Usman to win the welterweight title.
Just when it looked as though Usman was seeing out another relatively straightforward win, Edwards produced a moment of magic to knock him out with a single left high kick.

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou then added: ‘As sad as I am, I can’t not be happy for Leon Edwards from where he came from to make it here and what he been through. Congratulations!!!’
And bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling posted: ‘Usman seconds away from retaining the belt and an INSANE head kick KO from Leon Edwards! WOW! Kamaica has another UFC champion! I smell a trilogy!!’
And plenty of fans weighed in with their reaction to the remarkable finish too.
Edwards knocked out Usman in the final minute of their five-round bout
One wrote: ‘Colby Covington could not take Kamaru Usman down. Jorge Masvidal could not knock Kamaru Usman out. Leon Edwards did both.’
‘When Leon landed that head kick, in almost 55 rounds, and over 700 significant strikes absorbed, Kamaru Usman had never been knocked down, much less out in his UFC career,’ another added. ‘Leon Edwards had maybe the best moment in UFC welterweight history tonight.’
It now seems likely that the trilogy is inevitable as the next fight and Dana White has even teased that it could be at Wembley.
For now though, Edwards will bask in the glory of his achievement on an historic night for UK MMA.
Usman will be back but for now must dust himself off from a savage knockout
