A shocked customer files a lawsuit against Chopt after allegedly finding a human finger in her salad.

Allison Cozzi of Greenwich, Connecticut, said she made the gruesome discovery while having lunch at a branch in Mount Kisco, NY on April 7, 2023.

Her lawsuit, filed Monday in the New York Supreme Court, says that “as she ate the salad, she realized that she was chewing part of a human finger that had been mixed into the salad and made part of it.”

According to court documents seen by DailyMail.com, a manager at the restaurant cut off part of her left index finger while chopping arugula earlier that day.

The manager went to the hospital, but the “contaminated arugula” was served to customers, including Cozzi, the lawsuit said.

Westchester County Health Department records show Chopt paid a $900 fine for the alleged incident.

Cozzi said in the lawsuit that she suffered injuries including “shock, panic attacks, migraines, cognitive impairment, nausea, dizziness, and neck and shoulder pain” as a result of eating the contaminated salad.

She is seeking unspecified monetary damages.

Her lawsuit accuses Chopt’s employees and owners of being “reckless, careless and negligent in providing food that was contaminated and adulterated with a foreign object consisting of part of a human finger.”

An email seeking comment was sent to Chopt Creative Salad Co., a chain with more than 70 locations in the eastern United States.

Cozzi’s attorney said Tuesday she would have no further comment.

Shockingly, this isn’t the first time a customer eating at a major food chain has found a severed finger in their food – similar encounters have been documented around the world.
