To take, the biggest show on Netflix that Netflix would love to make, is a bona fide phenomenon on the platform. Want to catch up with family during the holidays? Someone has probably talked to you about it To take. Or you talked to them about it To take. To take it’s easy to talk about.
The former US legal drama is the kind of satisfying, snappy show that used to be commonplace on cable but is now an endangered species in the streaming age, with its short-episode orders and an average lifespan of three seasons. But if you stream a show enough, those responsible will start to notice: To take returns.
Suitable for: LAa spinoff of the original nine-season show that ran from 2011-2019, has just landed a pilot order at NBC, according to NBC Variety. As the title suggests, the new show will be set up as a change of scenery from the East Coast to the West and follow a new protagonist. According to the summary, Suitable for: LA succeeds “Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself and represents the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.”
Granted, this is a pilot order, so it may or may not become a full show — or it could also be shopped around to other networks or streaming platforms, should NBC ultimately pass on the series. But considering the quick streaming success by To take and the fascination with which it was observed, it is difficult to imagine that we will not see more To take shortly.
