Continuing his sharp attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday alleged that the party “hates the Constitution of the country, hates the identity of India” and is preparing to reduce the quota of SCs, STs and OBCs and implement reservations based on religion.

At a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of having a hidden agenda of ‘inheritance tax’ and alleged that the party wants to ‘take your property’.

He said Congress was working against the Constitution by making a reservation based on religion.

“Today, such a truth has come to light from the Congress which has stunned the countrymen. Our Constitution clearly prohibits reservations based on religion. BR Ambedkar himself was against this but Congress has passed a dangerous resolution and to complete this they are constantly trying to fool people and playing their own game. The Congress made reservations on the basis of religion in Andhra Pradesh in 2004. In their manifesto for the 2009 and 2014 elections, they promised religion-based reservations… Congress is preparing to cut SC, ST and 2014 quotas. OBC and implementing reservations on the basis of religion,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi referred to the LIC slogan to attack the Congress.

“‘Congress ka mantra hai-Congress ki loot, jindagi ke sath bhi loot, jindagi ke baad bhi loot. The Congress hates the Constitution of the country. They hate the identity of India and that is why they are working on all those projects that will harm the country and weaken his country’s status… The Congress which said that Lord Ram is an imaginative figure has rejected the invitation of ‘Pran Pratistha’,” he claimed.

Prime Minister Modi claimed that Congress wants to impose a tax on the inheritance he receives from his parents

“Congress has now made another revelation. Their hidden agenda has been exposed. Congress says it will impose an inheritance tax… Congress says it will also impose a tax on the inheritance you receive from your parents. Congress will take almost half of your inheritance.” properties that you have amassed through your hard work and which you want to give to your children…Congress has no idea about Indian family values,” he alleged.

“Congress wants to take your property. They will x-ray as their leader says and look at what is in your locker and at home… Be it jewelry or ‘mangalsutra’ of women, Congress will look for everything and then they will take it and redistribute it… If you have two houses, one in the city and the other in the village, Congress will take one. If you have two cars, they will take one, Congress has announced this. After taking all these things from you, they want to give it to their ‘vote bank’,” he added.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh later said that the word ‘redistribution’ does not exist in the Congress Nyay Patra.

“However, it has appeared in the BJP election manifestos before,” he said in a post on X.

He also refuted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s claim that the Congress wants to impose inheritance tax in the country.

“Congress has no plan to introduce an inheritance tax. Rajiv Gandhi abolished inheritance tax in 1985,” he said.
