Fans are left confused as they can’t figure out whether Jack Grealish is calling England ‘the best thing since sliced vegetables’ when he laughed at criticism of their goalless draw with the USA.
The Manchester City star insisted there was an ‘overreaction’ to their second group stage match, especially considering they were 6-2 winners against Iran in their 2022 World Cup opener.
The Three Lions have all but secured their place in the knockout stages barring a disaster against Wales later in the evening.

However, fans have flooded to social media to question whether the Manchester City star said sliced vegetables or sliced bread in his interview.
One fan commented, “He definitely says ‘the best thing since sliced veggies’, I can’t mute that now.”
A second agreed: ‘Defo said sliced vegetables and we should all say that from now on.
A third posted: ‘The best thing since sliced vegetables.’
A fourth tweeted, “I really want it to be true that he actually says ‘best thing since sliced veggies’ here, but I can’t prove it so best to leave it be.”
Another added, “God, I love this guy more and more every day.”
The response came after confusion over what Grealish actually said during his TalkSport interview.
“I think there was a big overreaction. I think we are still separated from Spain, the top scorers of the tournament maybe,” said Grealish TalkSport.
“I can’t think off the top of my head if anyone has scored more than six.
“Recently against Iran we were the best since sliced bread/vegetables, scored six goals and then we go a game without scoring.
“I think there was a bit of an overreaction, but sometimes you get that when you play for England.”
Grealish also defended manager Gareth Southgate’s decision not to start or use Phil Foden
