Have you finished the first two episodes of Ahsoka Wondering when exactly all this is happening? It wasn’t just you – the new Disney Plus series isn’t giving away details, and if you’re a fan of Star Wars Rebelshe even seems to contradict himself.

So let’s sweep through all this breadcrumbs and see what we can do with it, and Ahsoka(so far) a strangely shy way of dating.

(Ed. note: This piece of major spoilers for the first two episodes of Ahsokaand minor spoilers for episode 7.)

In a general way, Ahsoka‘s place in the Star Wars timeline is clear. As The Mandalorian And The Book of Boba Fettit takes place after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order — between Star Wars: Return of the Jediwith Luke, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with Rey. In the parlance of the Star Wars universe, it’s at least four years later Star Wars: A New Hope, or 4 ABY (meaning After the Battle of Yavin).

And according to some additional Star Wars books, the events of The Mandalorianin which Ahsoka initially appeared, takes place nine years later A new hopeor 9 ABY. Ahsoka the show appears to take place some time later.

But then there’s that damn wall dedication scene

The mural is a treat for Rebels fans to see this work of art rendered live. The Lothal government is holding an entire inauguration ceremony in his honor Ahsokawhich would imply that it is newly painted.

But if you looked Rebels, you know that’s not the case. He was originally seen in the series finale, set in 5 ABY, as Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano stood before her and vowed to work together in the search for Ezra Bridger. This should look very familiar to you, because they do the exact same thing in the exact same place in the second episode of Ahsoka. So you could be forgiven for thinking that Ahsoka takes place in 5 ABY, before the events of The Mandalorian and immediately leaving Rebels.

And yet, we also learn in Ahsoka that Ahsoka and Sabine have developed quite the relationship of master and failed apprentice off-screen, which would imply that when Sabine and Ahsoka meet to go find Ezra in front of the mural at Ahsokait’s not just a live-action recreation of the final scene of Rebels. It’s just that they both do it again a few years later, with neither of them commenting on the repeat, and also that Lothal is just really, Really late to dedicate the fresco. Not confusing at all.

Episode 7 of the series highlights this when Captain Carson Teva, who first appeared in The Mandalorian as a New Republic space ranger that Din Djarin would cross paths with – mentions “the conflict on Mandalore”, prompting another to describe Moff Gideon as “a warlord acting on his own.” This would indicate that Ahsoka takes place after season 3 of The Mandalorianin which Gideon’s plot to seize and reignite the mines of Mandalore was discovered and thwarted by Din Djarin and his allies.

SO: Ahsoka takes place after the events of The Mandalorian And Boba Fettwhich take place around 9 ABY, at least nine years after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. How many years later? As the Governor of Lothal said so well during the unveiling ceremony of the mural: “Many”.

Thank you, this is very informative.
