The two ex-soldiers, now operating as police detectives, then raided a cocaine-filled apartment before Thorton persuaded a criminal to become an informant.

The detective later told Hickey that his informant had told him of a “stock” that made him “suspicious,” and when asked if he would inform the tenants about enforcing a warrant, Moran brushed off the incident as “one of those stuff’.

Another informant talked to Moran and Thorton about a “money house,” and the first asked his partner to help him raid the location.

Although Stahl resisted the idea, his old friend said he would receive a million dollars for his work, adding, “I can’t do this without you.”

As scenes of the violent robbery were shown, Moran put a gun to an informant’s head and forced him to act as a go-between before Stahl worriedly asked his partner, “How are we going to explain this?”

William Learner, played by Richardson, relays the details of the incident to Hickey, who suspected the perpetrators were police officers in disguise.

Stahl goes on to tell Moran that he had been having nightmares about being exposed as a thief before his partner’s wife Anna, played by Bosworth, asked if her husband was “taking money on the side.”

When Richardson presented his suspicions about the raid to Hickey and said his version of the scenario was correct, his superior angrily stated that he was not working with hard evidence.
