Team USA fans were left wondering why Jade Carey didn’t appear to show up at a celebratory TikTok gathering after Simone Biles led them to Olympic gold.
Biles made history in Paris when the United States won the team gymnastics competition on Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old, now the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, later posted a video backstage, along with teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera.
The clip, which was posted on social media, showed them ‘biting’ their gold medals in a humorous way. ‘TASTE GOLD’, the caption read.
Lee also posted a behind-the-scenes video after the finale, which was paired with an iconic clip of Kanye West’s speech at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards.
Fans wondered why Jade Carey appeared to be left out of the gold celebration videos
Simone Biles explained why Carey was not present at the behind-the-scenes clips in Paris on Tuesday
“Everyone wants to know what I would do if I didn’t win,” the gymnasts muttered before showing off their medals. “I guess we’ll never know.”
But after fans noticed Carey was largely missing from the clips, they questioned why she was “left out.”
“Where’s Jade Carey?” asked one supporter. “Don’t leave Jade out,” said another.
Carey said she was sick and had trouble eating in the lead-up to Tuesday’s finale.
Biles responded to the social media concern by explaining Carey’s absence. “She went to the bathroom and we haven’t seen her since,” the gymnast said.
