Concern for Noel Fielding who pulled out of comedy series due to ill health after ‘every possible option to continue filming was exhausted’ – as it’s claimed ‘furious’ cast and crew ‘plan to sue show makers’
Concerns are mounting over Noel Fielding after he abruptly stopped filming his comedy series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin due to ill health.
The 51-year-old Great British Bake Off star played the lead role of the legendary highwayman in the multi-million dollar show which had its first series on Apple TV last spring, but earlier this week it was reported that series two was axed mid-production.
A spokesperson for the comedian confirmed: ‘This is a private and confidential matter relating to our client’s health.
“We are saddened by the decision to cease production, but we cannot comment further on this matter.”
A source close to the show said this in the meantime The times: ‘Noel has said that he can no longer film and that he had no choice but to stop.
“It is not a decision taken lightly and they would not have reached this extreme outcome if all possible solutions had not been exhausted.

‘People are very concerned for Noel’s welfare and have given him time to recover, but there are also significant consequences. Some people are furious.’
It comes after reports that the cast and crew working on the show are planning to sue the show’s makers after it was axed.
While filming for the second series was due to resume after the Christmas holidays, the cast and crew received the devastating news that this would not happen.
It was reported by The sun that Noel did not return after the holidays and that now more than a hundred people are considering a class action lawsuit against the makers of the Apple TV+ comedy.
They report that because Noel – who plays Turpin’s character – is also a co-writer and executive producer, he will likely be charged as well.
The publication claims he left for France before the team learned of the shocking news and has not been seen in public since.
A source said: ‘It’s virtually unheard of to abandon a show mid-production – and there’s a mystery as to what exactly happened.
‘It’s the left-wing bosses of other shows that make him feel extremely nervous.
‘In addition, he will face possible legal action. It will be a difficult few months for him.’

Originally known for his darkly comedic style, Noel became a household name after joining the Great British Bake Off hosting line-up in 2017.
Seen as an unusual choice at the time, he has won the hearts of viewers by co-hosting the show alongside Sandi Toksvig, Matt Lucas and most recently Alison Hammond.
In 2021, the star sparked concern after suddenly disappearing midway through an episode of the Channel 4 show with a mystery illness.
Co-host Matt told viewers: ‘Okay Bakers, Noel is feeling a bit bad but we’ll carry on…’ as he took solo duties for the final ten minutes of the show.
Born in South London, Noel met fellow comedian Julian Barratt at Croydon art school and they formed the eccentric comedy troupe the Mighty Boosh.
The group earned their big break after winning Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 1998 and followed up with three BBC series of Might Boosh as well as sold-out shows.
Putting Noel firmly on the map, he played Richmond in the Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd from 2009 to 2015 and captained the all-star team opposite Phil Jupitus in Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Noel embraced the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and became no stranger to the party scene. He was regularly spotted on a night out with stars such as Russell Brand, Pete Doherty, Amy Winehouse and even Courtney Love.

He also made headlines when he kissed Pixie Geldof in a club when she was 16 and still at school and he was 33.
A source told the DailyMail: ‘Pixie was knocking back pints like a pro and bragging about her drunken antics the night before.
‘She was desperate for Noel to show up and when he finally did, she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
“He’s got a bit of a reputation, but that’s all part of the appeal. She was completely smitten. They spent most of the night kissing in the corner.”
According to The sunNoel said at the time: ‘When I first met her I had no idea who she was or that she was so young.
“It caused a lot of problems because her father clearly wanted to kill me.”
The star also had hepatitis during his studies and was unable to drink for six months.
Noel told me the Times in 2009: ‘I continued not drinking for years. I used to be able to have a great time doing nothing. I stayed up until four in the morning while everyone else was drunk. Just put in a little effort and get used to it. Actually it’s good.’
Noel has also been open about his colorful exploits earlier in his career. He later admitted: ‘I was doing too many drugs and hanging out with the wrong people.’
The star explained that he was constantly being offered drugs and girls as he said he was often out until 7am.

Since leaving that lifestyle behind, he has been in a long-term relationship with radio DJ Lliana Bird and the pair share two daughters Dali and Iggy.

It was written and created by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane, Ian Jarvis of The Outlaws and The Job Lot, with Noel and Jeremy Dyson of League Of Gentleman as script consultants.

It comes after Noel admitted what drives him ‘absolutely livid’ on the set of The Great British Bake Off – and that includes Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
Ahead of series 15, Noel revealed he was as passionate about the program as ever, and felt particularly ‘protective’ of that year’s bakers.
The TV personality recalled how he burst into tears when he was told to send one of them home.
In an interview with The Guardian he said: ‘There are some very special bakers in the tent this year. Somehow the standard keeps getting higher.”
Noel continued: “These incredible young bakers are much better than they should be for their age. It’s a vintage year. One of the best so far.
‘I am fascinated by the people. I feel protective of them. When Paul and Prue are hard on them, I’m absolutely livid. It’s terrible when they leave. This year I was particularly fond of one bakery. When I had to send them home, I cried.’
