Complaint against Ranbir Kapoor for allegedly hurting religious sentiments

A complaint has been registered against Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor at Ghatkopar police station for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through a viral video while celebrating Christmas.

The complaint has been filed by Bombay High Court lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, seeking registration of a case under Sections 295A, 298,500 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, the police have not yet registered an FIR in the case.

In the viral video, wine and liquor are poured over a cake, after which Ranbir Kapoor sets it on fire and says, 'Jai Mata Di'. The rest of the family members also sang the same.

According to the complaint, in Hinduism, the fire god is invoked before invoking other gods, but Ranbir Kapoor and his family members deliberately consumed intoxicants while celebrating Christmas and sang “Jai Mata Di”.

The video was made and circulated to insult the religious sentiments of the complainants, he alleged.
