A Queensland woman says she is ‘completely overwhelmed’ after community members heeded her call for help to tame her overgrown garden.
Virginia took to social media to ask for help after she urgently moved to the freeway for four months to care for her mother after she was diagnosed with cancer.
She dropped everything to be there for her mom, which left her garden overgrown and her mailbox full of wasps, so she reluctantly took to social media to ask for help.
Virginia said a rent inspection was coming up and she felt she had no choice but to rely on the kindness of strangers.
Within minutes of posting her plea, she was inundated with messages from strangers offering their help for free.

said Virginia Yahoo News that at 8 a.m. the next morning a man – who wished to remain anonymous – was on his way to help.
“He mowed, removed any weeds that had grown in the grass, and even cleaned the front of the house so it looked presentable again,” Virginia said.
The man said he would always be there to help those in need as he had been through a “difficult time” himself.
“I don’t think my problems or worries are ever so great that I should be self-absorbed and not give back to the community,” he said.
“And I love moving lawns. There’s something so therapeutic about it.”

The tenant was also contacted by a local company who offered to remove the wasp nest, while others reached out to offer their services in case anything else needed to be done.
“It felt like everyone had been waiting to hear the good news that I had gotten the help I needed and that (everyone) was ready to celebrate the community’s efforts,” Virginia said.
“Everyone’s kindness really helped me see the light in such a dark situation. It was such a necessary reminder of the good that is in this world – I’m proud to call this place my home.”
