Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry were both ignored when commentator Clive named Tyldesley his greatest Premier League striker.

Shearer remains the league’s all-time highest goalscorer to this day with 260 goals during his time at Blackburn and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Henry is regarded as the best player to ever play in the top flight after several memorable years at Arsenal.

But Tyldesley doesn’t believe either player is the best striker the league has ever seen. He emphasizes that it is Chelsea legend Didier Drogba who will take the title.

Speaking on ‘The Byline’ he said: ‘I would almost say if they had problems defensively, because I can call Alan Shearer a good friend and who has been the best striker in the Premier League era, it would be one of those are two and don’t tell him I said this, but I think Drogba is,’

However, commentator Clive Tyldesley says neither is the best, but Shearer comes close

Tyldesley claims Didier Drogba is the best because of his football talent, personality and leadership

“I thought Drogba was just the most outstanding football talent, personality and iconic leader of a football team, and there is no one even remotely in that league.”

Drogba spent a hugely successful nine years at Chelsea, spread over two spells, winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League, scoring in the latter’s 2012 final.

That goal was just one of ten goals he scored in ten finals, with the Blues legend making himself known for his big match moments.

The Ivorian also scored 104 Premier League goals and registered 55 assists in 254 appearances for the Blues.

By comparison, Henry has scored 175 league goals with 74 assists in four more appearances than Drogba.

Both Drogba and Henry’s medal collections are a revision of those of Shearer, who won just one Premier League title with Blackburn in 1995.
