The Washington Commanders took unspecified disciplinary action against several players who were drinking on the team’s plane following a Monday Night Football 32-21 victory over Philadelphia.
Vision of the celebrations was posted on social media with quarterback Taylor Heinicke seen drunk. Next to him was a trash can filled with ice and other alcoholic beverages.
Drinking on team transport is against NFL rules, though the league is taking no further action.
They seem pleased with the commanders’ handling of the situation after coach Ron Rivera called the league Tuesday morning to update them, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

A memo was sent to all 32 teams Friday afternoon in the wake of the arrest of the Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing for drunk driving in the early morning.
It served as a reminder to teams that alcohol was prohibited on airplanes and other areas in NFL buildings.
In light of recent events, clubs are reminded that it is League policy that prohibits alcoholic beverages, including beer, from being consumed in dressing rooms, practice or office facilities, or while traveling on team buses or aircraft at any time during pre-season, regular season or post-season. ,” the memo read.
The former XFL signal caller was decisive in his franchise’s shock victory against the Eagles in Philly
This applies to all players, coaches, club staff and guests traveling with your team. Making alcohol available at club facilities or while traveling creates significant and unnecessary risk to the League, its players, coaches and others.
Violations of this important policy will be taken seriously and will result in significant discipline.
“Each club must ensure that alcohol is not served at any time in its travel arrangements and must also take appropriate steps to confirm that alcohol (be it beer or any other alcoholic beverage) is not available in its facility.”
Washington celebrated his win in Philadelphia with gusto, beating Heinicke with his teammates’ chains and mimicking a Minnesota Vikings trend with his quarterback, Kirk Cousins.

Cousins’ most recent celebration was against the Commanders, his old team from 2012 to 2017, when the Vikings defeated them 20-17 on November 6.
With the music blaring, Cousins gleefully rocked massive chains without his shirt on, while highly amused teammates cheered him on.
And Heinicke did the same Monday night, except with a shirt. The 29-year-old also sipped a Busch Light beer while sporting flashy Cartier specs with gold hinges.
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd hit the Commanders as footage surfaced.
Vikings Kris Boyd knocked down Commanders QB Heinicke for trying to be like Kirk Cousins
“Stop trying to be us… Lames… He couldn’t even hold Kirk jockstrap. Find your own trend!…You don’t even look like you’re having fun enjoying it…” Boyd tweeted.
When a fan said Boyd should give the Commanders some credit for beating the previously undefeated Eagles, the defense responded, “Idgaf! We’re gone, they’re crossing our path again.’
The Commanders are in the middle of the NFC wild card race at 5-5 after Heinicke threw for 211 yards, one touchdown and completed 58.6 percent of his passes (17/29) against the Eagles.
