Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon thinks Rob Gronkowski can give the Buccaneers the boost they need amid the team’s disappointing 3-4 start.

While Tampa Bay actually leads a weak NFC South, the offense scores just 17.7 points per game (26th in the league) and Tom Brady looked like the 45-year-old he is.

Brady has only played one multi-touchdown game so far and the team has lost four of their last five games behind a sputtering foul.

And as Gronkowski announced his retirement (for the second time) in June, Moon wondered what the tight end would bring to the Tampa Bay assault.

‘He’s been a safety blanket for’ [Brady] for so long,” said Moon TMZ Sports.

“If there’s an important play to be made, especially in the red zone or whatever – and they had a hard time scoring in the red zone last week [in a 21-3 loss to the Panthers] – that’s the man he would usually go to, Rob Gronkowski.’

Gronkowski and Brady were teammates for 11 years (nine in New England, two in Tampa Bay), while the pair collected four Super Bowl rings together and endeared “Gronk” to himself as one of his quarterback’s favorite goals.

The tight end caught a whopping 105 touchdowns from Brady (including the postseason), and is known for being a close friend of the former Patriots quarterback, calling him a “brother” in a June post after Gronkowski’s retirement.

Warren thinks the five-time Pro Bowler, who Brady called a “dream” of sharing a locker room, could cheer up the spirits in Tampa Bay.

“He’s one of those guys who’s really talented first of all, and then he’s got an infectious personality that would loosen anyone up a little bit,” Moon said.

“He would… make guys have fun, he would also give them a boost of confidence that they know what he’s capable of when he’s on the pitch. So I think that would help.’

While Gronkowski said he was “done” with the sport after his retirement, his agent Drew Rosenhaus said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if the legendary tight end returns later this season.

With a tough run of games against the Ravens, Rams, Seahawks and Browns coming up next month, it certainly wouldn’t hurt Brady if the future Hall of Famer caught passes from him.
