Earlier this week, footage emerged of protesters smashing windows, overturning furniture and causing damage in Hamilton Hall during the occupation, before police stormed the campus and arrested more than 100 demonstrators on Tuesday evening.

About 40 protesters were arrested on the first floor of the building after police ended the pro-Palestinian encampment that stretched on for nearly two weeks and included students taking over just after 9 p.m.

Photos and videos of the aftermath show the destroyed interior of the venue, strewn with activists’ belongings.

Columbia President Minouche Shafik called on the NYPD to restore “order and safety” on campus amid the escalating protests, which also included a large-scale encampment on the school’s lawns.

The raid saw protesters arrested on campus and at nearby City College New York, where similar protests were taking place.

Police stormed Hamilton Hall through an upstairs window after students used furniture to barricade the entrance.

Photos show chairs and desks turned upside down to become makeshift barriers. The cost of the damage to the building will likely be thousands of dollars.

The occupation followed weeks of unrest in Columbia, which began with the establishment of the encampment on April 17.

Protesters set up tents after Shafik was questioned before Congress about anti-Semitism on campus.

They repeatedly ignored calls for dissolution as demonstrations flared early Tuesday with the violent takeover of Hamilton Hall.

After two weeks of chaos, with classes moved online and facilities closed, Shafik finally called in the police, who managed to clear the campus in just two hours.

University administrators have now asked police to remain present until May 17, two days after graduation.
