Of course, I could easily get my Studio Ghibli fix by renting one of his movies digitally or watching them HBO max. But I’ve realized I’m a sucker for these steelbook Blu-ray versions of Studio Ghibli movies that came out through GKids in 2020. What good timing, then, as a decent selection of them are a few dollars cheaper than their usual price at Amazon, costing around $17, or a little less in some cases.
Naturally, I want them for the movies (each includes both high-resolution Blu-ray copies and standard-definition DVD copies), as well as the booklets and special features in each sample book. But I’m swooning over the steelbooks themselves, with their simple, single-color designs. They would look fantastic lined up on a shelf.
Unfortunately, not every Studio Ghibli film has (yet) received the vibrant Steelbook Blu-ray treatment, but the most popular ones have. There is Spiritually gone, The wind blows, Pony, Princess MononokeAnd My neighbor Totoro. I’m going to list a handful of them below, but this link has much more.
